Arts in Action Community Charter School opened in Fall 2011 with grades K-5. The elementary program aims to provide a rigorous academic foundation while developing the whole child through a rich arts program, a daily socio-emotional learning component, and modeling advocacy through social justice initiatives.  

Arts in Action Community Middle School opened in Fall 2016 and serves grades 6-8 students. We believe that all students deserve access to the arts. We believe that instruction should be culturally relevant, inclusive and meet the diverse needs of all learners. JOB DESCRIPTION: The intern psychologist directly works with the school’s credentialed psychologist and assists in developing a school-wide culture of learning, respect, and community engagement and building an atmosphere of safety and accountability. The intern psychologist assists in psychologist evaluation and provision of IEP eligibility and services, assists students in developing positive and effective social behaviors, supports teachers in managing challenging classroom behaviors, and supports parents in communicating their needs and questions and resolving concerns. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct psychological assessments, interpret results, and participate in IEP conferences, team meetings, and problem-solving meetings.
  • Monitor completion of case study evaluations and participate in IEP and problem-solving meetings.
  • Provide school-based and/or DIS individual, group, and ERICS therapy per IEP requirements.
  • Participate in crisis intervention efforts and provide insight into the development of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
  • Integrate psychological services into the classroom environment as appropriate.
  • Assist staff in designing and implementing appropriate academic and behavioral interventions and accommodations for students.
  • Evaluate and/or translate research into practice and sufficiently understand research design and statistics to plan and conduct investigations and program evaluations to improve services.
  • Contribute to school-wide regular education and special education program development such as Student Study Team and Section 504
  • Provide support services to parents/guardians as needed.
  • Consult with other district-wide psychologists and resources to recommend providing mental health services outside the scope of the school sites based on individual student needs.
  • Coordinate and/or collaborate with various individuals/agencies to promote and provide comprehensive services to students and families.
  • Provide and/or assist in professional development for staff, parents, and/or the community.
  • Participate in professional growth and school/department meetings.
  • Help implement and participate in Medi-Cal/insurance reimbursements.
  • Leadership on other tasks as requested.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must meet the requirement for candidacy for Master's Degree in School Psychology from accredited institution and be ready to commence 1200+ hour internship requirement
  • 2 current letters of recommendation
  • Possesses a growth mindset and a love of learning
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

WAGE AND BENEFITS: This position receives a $15,000 stipend.
