Middle School Principal

Seeking an experienced and passionate school leader who will lead through inclusive, collaborative, and empowering social justice educational practices

Arts in Action strives to provide culturally responsive educational opportunities with hands-on and dynamic arts-integrated instruction taught through the lens of social justice in an inclusive and affirming school setting. JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Overseeing school-wide operational, fiscal, academic, and social-emotional systems and procedures
• Building a strong academic program through strategic planning, developing best teaching practices, researching and procuring curriculum 
• Leading school-wide social justice aligned Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Justice initiatives
• Overseeing the Turnaround Arts program and implementing the strategic arts integration plan
• Hiring, managing, and evaluating instructional and classified staff 
• Developing and procuring professional development and training for all school staff
• Facilitating teacher committee and leadership opportunities 
• Facilitating external partnerships including relationships with Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles Unified School District
• Leading family engagement initiatives including schoolwide family events, monthly principal meetings, collaborating with the United Parent Committee, leading School Site Council, facilitating the English Language Advisory Committee, and collaborating on parent workshops and training

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior Title I school leadership and teaching experience (8+ years)
• Strong managerial track record and interpersonal skills (communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution)
• Dedication to the school’s mission, a thorough understanding of how to implement the school’s instructional approach, and a strong love for all children

• Experience working with students who are English Learners and Students with Disabilities
• Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.

WAGE AND BENEFITS: The salary for this job ($122,000-$190,724) is competitive and commensurate with experience; a competitive benefits package is included.
